King of the Ranges Camp Oven Cook Off Rules

  • King of the Ranges Saturday from 11.30am

  • Entrants can be individuals or teams of up to 4 people. Camp and team presentation counts towards final tally

  • Fires can be lit from 11.30am Saturday (wood provided by KOTR)

  • 3 dishes

    • Dish 1 - Damper or 24 Scones, entrant recipe choice (ready for 1pm judging)

    • Dish 2 - Pizza or cake tbc, cook to a recipe (ready for 3.30pm judging)

    • Dish 3 - Main Course and Sweets, entrant recipe choice. Stew or curry and dumplings (ready for 6.30pm judging)

  • Ingredients provided:

    • Dish 1 - flour, jam and cream

    • Dish 2 - all recipe ingredients

    • Dish 3 - meat, vegies, flour, golden syrup, butter, eggs and milk. Entrants to provide herbs, spices, seasonings, secret ingredients of choice.

  • A special award for best camp presentation and interaction with the crowd. This award will be voted for by KOTR visitors.

The Camp Oven Cook Off is a fresh addition to the Bush Festival, where camp cooks gather around the fire to flaunt their bush cooking skills and see who wins the inaugural trophy

Whether it's damper or scones, cakes or pies, stews or curries,

everyone is eagerly watching who will clinch the first Camp Oven Cook Off trophy


Judging includes presentation, cleanliness and taste.

Entrants can be a team of up to 4 or an individual. Come along to see if you can take out the first ever Camp Oven Cook Off trophy.

What started as a little friendly competition ‘round the campfire has evolved to become the newest competition at King of the Ranges and is anticipated to be one of the most contested trophies in the Bush Festival.
