Camp Oven Cook Off Information

  • When is the competition held? On Saturday of the King of the Ranges weekend - 28th of September.

  • How many people in a team? Entrants can be individuals or teams of up to 4 people - limit of 6 teams in total.

  • Entry fee: $50 per team.

  • Apart from food quality what else counts towards the final tally? Camp and team presentation and hygiene count towards the final tally. Judging includes food presentation, quality, cleanliness and taste.

  • When can campfires be lit? Coals from a central fire will be ready from 11.30am Saturday (wood provided by KOTR).

  • How many dishes does the team cook? 3 dishes all of your design and choice. Show off your specialty and make sure you bring along all those secret ingredients.

    • Dish 1 - starter recipe of choice (ready for 12.30pm judging)

    • Dish 2 - main course recipe of choice (ready for 3pm judging)

    • Dish 3 - another main or a dessert recipe of choice (ready for 6.15pm judging)

  • What ingredients will I need? Entrants are asked to bring their own ingredients.

    • No alcohol to be used.

  • People’s Choice: We welcome spectators to be part of the judging panel. $20 per person with a max of 30 people.

  • People’s Choice Award A special award for best camp presentation and interaction with the crowd. This award will be voted for by KOTR visitors.

everyone is eagerly watching to see who will win the first Camp Oven Cook Off trophy?


Entrants can be a team of up to 4 or an individual.

Come along to see if you can take out the first ever King of the Range Stockman’s Challenge Camp Oven CookOff trophy.

What started as a little friendly competition ‘round the campfire has evolved to become the newest competition at King of the Ranges and is anticipated to be one of the most contested trophies in the Bush Festival.

There is rumour in the hills of brisket and smoker competition evolving too...
